Obituary of Althea Jean Hendry

Althea Jean ( Horne ) Hendry, 102 years old, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at her home in Cullowhee. The daughter of the late John C. and Julia Wright Horne, she was born January 21, 1911 in Fort Myers, Florida. She grew up in Estero, Florida as a young girl. She loved her flowers, especially pansies and violets. She was presented her high school diploma by Thomas Edison. She loved traveling, decorating and taking care of her home but she loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren the most. She truly practiced her Methodist Faith and belief in Jesus. She is survived by her husband of 80 years Ed Hendry of the home Children- Son- Derald Hendry of Franklin Daughters- Jean (James) Wood of Waynesville and Karen (Jerry) Hughes of Westminster, SC 6 Grandchildren- Tammy (Steven) Ott, Cindy (John) Williamson, Ben (Amy) Riddling, Christina Dordal, Jamie Wood and Cheryl Hopkins 14 Great Grandchildren- Jordan Israel, Jeanna ( John) Thomas, Aaron (Kristen) Israel, Michelle Israel, Melanie Israel, Josh Williamson, Brett (Marie)Williamson, Justin Dordal, Taylor Dordal, Isaac Riddling, Isabelle Riddling, Alexis Riddling, Elizabeth Schum, Anna Grace Wood 4 Great Great Grandchildren- Ainsley Kovack, Jackson Thomas, Julia Thomas, Jacob Israel Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday May 20, 2013 at Wike Cemetery in Cullowhee, NC. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cullowhee Fire and Rescue, PO Box 4277, Cullowhee,NC 28723.
