Obituary of Bonnie M. Cunningham

Mrs. Bonnie M. Cunningham, age 95, of Sylva died Monday, May 20, 2013 at Mountain Trace Nursing Center of Sylva, NC. Mrs. Cunningham was born April 15, 1918 in Jackson Co, NC. She is the daughter of the late George and Georginna (Sutton) Hensley. She was a former cook at the Jarrett House in Dillsboro and was a devoted volunteer at the MedWest Harris Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Cunningham is preceded in death by her husband, ZW Cunningham; two sisters and one brother. She is survived by four sons; Robert J. Cunningham of Sylva, Tom Cunningham of Sylva, Jim Cunningham of Dillsboro, and Mike Cunningham of Sylva; and three daughters; Mary Sue Gulino of Jamestown, NY, Linda Lou C. Snyder of Houston, TX, and Shirley Ann Ashe of Sylva. She is also survived by one sister, Margaret Turpin of Sylva; 16 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Locust Field Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Carnes and Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will be in Locust Field Cemetery.
