Obituary of Coleman Elijah Smith

Coleman Elijah Smith, 72, of Cullowhee, went home to be with His Lord, Monday June 3, 2013. Born September 22, 1940 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Charles and Clora Smith. Coleman had a wonderful sense of humor and was a genuine Kentucky Colonel. He attended Cumberland University in Williamsburg, Kentucky. He was a member of Moses Creek Baptist Church in the Caney Fork Community of Cullowhee. Through the years he blessed many people with his Bible teaching and had recently published a novel, To Catch a Unicorn. He was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Lynn Stewart, and by his brothers, Elbert, Eldon, Ancil and Harvey. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sonja Nix Smith Son- Shannon A.( Debbie) Smith OF Birmingham, Ala 2 Daughters- Melanie (Ken) Conkle of Griffin, GA. Danette Young of Birmingham, Ala Sister- Maebelle Smith of Warner Robbins, GA 2 Brothers- Marshall A. (Barbara) Smith of Birmingham, Ala Raymond Smith of Williamsburg, KY 8 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren also survive A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday June 8 at Moses Creek Baptist Church with the Pastor Michael Gunter officiating.
