Obituary of Thomas Garrett

Thomas Garrett, age 79, of Sylva died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Memorial Mission in Asheville, NC. Thomas was born December 26, 1933 in Sylva, NC. He was the son of the Late Sarah A. Garrett. He was preceded in death by three sisters Ernestine Clark, Betty Eckler and Matilda Shields. He was retired from the US Navy. He was a former Restaurant Owner and also owned a Construction Company. He is survived by his wife: Mary (Cope) Garrett;one step daughter Dr. Shelia King of Virginia, two sisters Martha Cagle of Sylva and Ilene Evans of Waynesville and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday June 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs.Earl Holden and Dr. J.D. Grant officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be conducted by William E. Dillard American Legion Post 104. . .
