Jean was such a dear and so encouraging even when you knew she was tired. She supported me in my trip to China and even gave me a whole block of international stamps for the collection of a pastor in China. She was faithful in the choir and we could always count on her high soprano. We even started singing lessons together until our teacher abandoned us! She worked hard over that fabulous garden and always shared some veggies with me. Even though I am far away now in Texas it is a great memory to have of a valuable friend.

Dear Pittillo Family - Please accept my condolences on the passing of your wife and mother. Dan, I worked with you in efforts with the WNC Alliance in the 80's and 90's and wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts. My husband, Paul, recently lost his father and we have a sense of what you are experiencing.

I knew Jean when my children, Rachel and Joshua, went to school with Heather. All I can say is that the world lost a wonderful, caring and genuinely sweet person all too soon. She was such a proud mom. Every time we ran into each other over the years, she was full of news about her kids and delighted in telling about them. She will be missed.

Dan,
I have loved Jean, Shane, and you since the first Sunday we attended service at CUMC. You all were so inviting with your beautiful smiles. Now one of us is missing in body, but not in spirit. Our angel, from the choir, is warming up her soothing voice for that Heavenly Choir, we soon shall hear. No more pain. No more sickness. No more not knowing what the next minute, hour, or day shall behold. I know this is a very deep loss for the Patillo's, but what a gain for Jean and her Angelic Friends. We mourn today and look forward to some of the same rewards Our Dear Angel is enjoying, while we all wait for His Coming.
This broke my heart to pieces, when I found it on my e-mail. I hope she was at peace when she passed. I struggle for words to say, because I am so sensitive in this area. An irreplaceble part of our lives here is gone, but we are so blessed to not see her suffer anymore.
Jean Patillo, A CUMC Angel, we love you!!!!!!!

The Martell's of Prince Edward Island, Canada posted a condolence
We met Jean and her wonderful family when they made there way to our beautiful Island and found us working on our lease on the beach harvesting clams-they took us in to their cabin and treated us just like family and kindred spirits-Jean was very kind to us and very sweet and soft spoken-as were all the family-we managed to arrive in Sylva for a vacation and Jean and her whole family treated us so well, and we had shared many laughs and stories-when we left we were in tears, tears of joy and sadness that we were there and had spent such a wonderful time with loving caring people, but had to come home to our own family-We had hoped sometime to see them again. Jean is gone now but we have her and her families memories in our hearts and have you all in our prayers and hearts-we love you all so much-Jean was a beautiful person and we will so miss her-Love and hugs to you all---Mike, Tami and family

Jean was a wonderful neighbor and friend. She was kind, patient, generous and always had a sweet, sweet smile. I can still see her weeding the garden beside the little red house and dispatching beetles and bugs along the way. She was someone I loved and admired greatly and I will miss her. My prayers are for comfort and peace for all of you as you face life without her. Love and prayers always.

Dear Dan,Heather and Shane,
I just found out about Jean's passing. I am sorry I wasn't able to attend her services. You know I don't remember ever seeing her when she wasn't smiling. That's been a lot of years beginning with meeting her when I managed the health food store in the late 70's. The last time I saw her was at the Jackson Co. Art Council Yard Sale. I was a little startled by her appearance and what she had been through with the cancer. And you know what, she was smiling as big as ever!! She was a bright, articulate, kind and loving spirit. I know she will be missed by all. Please except Susan and my sympathy. I know you will hold your head up and remember the smile too.
