Obituary of Jessie Rae Jones

Jessie Raye Jones, 75, of Sylva passed away Monday morning, September 23, 2013 at Med West Harris Hospital in Sylva, NC. Born November 9, 1937 in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and the late Annie Bell (Shular) Blanton. She was employed as a secretary in a doctor’s office and was a member of Ochre Hill Baptist Church where she was the organist. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Guy Jones; sons Randy, Jeff, and Mark Jones; and a sister, Dessie McMahan. She is survived by a grandson- Travis Jones and wife Becky of Sylva; a sister- Peggy and husband LC McMahan of Sylva; and four great grandchildren, Travis, Cole, Emma, and Josie Jones. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday September 25 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Dr. J D Grant and Rev. Earl Holden officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon till 2:00 PM prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jack West, Mike Sluder, Josh Ward, Mike Cogdill, Chad Hall and Dennis Graziosi.
