Obituary of Elizabeth "Tot" Ann Kyer

Elizabeth Ann Jacobs Kyer "Tot" Elizabeth Ann Jacobs Kyer, 82, of Waynesville, NC passed away October 9, 2013 at The Homestead in Clyde, NC. A native of Swain County, she lived most of her life in Jackson County. She was known to all by her childhood nickname, "Tot". She was the daughter of the late Robert D. Jacobs and Nellie Mae Randall Jacobs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Jacobs Robinson, brothers-in-law, John Robinson, Jr. and Dave Stephens, a niece Suzy Robinson Nicholson, and a great-granddaughter, Deslyn Tay Sherrill. Elizabeth was a graduate of Sylva High (1948) where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. She worked for United Airlines, US Steel and served in VISTA. She retired from Jackson County DSS in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Lenell Kyer Wyche and her husband, Tom, two grandchildren, Zachary Wyche (Jessica) and Emily Wyche Allan (Christopher) and one great-grandson, Lucas Allan, as well as her sister Bobbie Nell Jacobs Stephens of Sylva and one brother, Jimmy Jacobs (Reba) of Hendersonville. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home in Sylva, NC with the Reverend Charles Dean officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will be at Parris Cemetery.
