Obituary of Glenn (Shorty) Bryson

Glenn (Shorty) Bryson, age 85, of Sylva died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Medwest Haywood Hospital of Clyde, NC. Glenn was born July 12, 1928 in Sylva, NC , He is the son of the late Hester Howell Bryson. He was employed as a custodian for Jackson County Schools. He loved fishing. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Geneva; sisters, Lillie Jo Howell and Annie R. Shepherd, brothers, Leon Bryson and Johnny Howell, all of Sylva. He is survived by a brother, Larry Howell and wife Betty of Lafayette, GA; a sister-in-law, Ida J. Bryson of Sylva; two stepsons, William H. Coward, Thomas Blakeley and wife, Sybil; and a daughter, Mary Fowler and husband Sherman Fowler; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 on Thursday, Oct. 31 at Liberty Baptist Church in Sylva, with Rev. Charles Lee officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral in Parris Cemetery In Sylva.
