Obituary of Griffin Amos Hooper

Griffin A. Hooper, age 83, of Sylva died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Highland Cashiers Hospital in Highlands, NC. Mr. Hooper was born December 14, 1929 in, NC. He is the son of the late Verge and the late Della (Blackburn) Hooper. He was preceded in death by a sister Alma June Hooper and wife Barbara Hooper. He was a US Army veteran. He worked in the logging and trucking industry. He loved to Fox Hunt Camp and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He is survived by a son Kim and wife Tammy Hooper of Cullowhee and a daughter Dorothy Franklin of Sylva and one brother Earl and wife Jean Hooper of Sylva. Three grandchildren Alexie Franklin Brady and Baylee Hooper. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday November 10, 2013 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Tommy Holden officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM Prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brasstown cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion William E. Dillard Post 104.
