Obituary of Coolidge Calvin Brooks

Coolidge Calvin Brooks, 89, of Whittier, passed away Thursday December 12, 2013. Coolidge was born in Bushnell, North Carolina and was a World War II U.S.Navy Veteran. After military service he returned to Bryson City until 1952 when he married and moved to Jackson County. He worked in and retired from the textile industry. He was a member of Olivet Methodist Church. His passion in life was reading to which he read anything he could obtain. But his greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Sarah M. Chambers Brooks; 6 brothers; and 4 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Elizabeth Bridges Brooks 2 Sons- Ervin J. Brooks and his wife Donna of West Lafayette, Indiana Marvin Brooks and his wife Connie of Sylva 1 Daughter- Marilyn Frizzell and her husband Roger of Whittier 4 Grandsons- Jason Brooks and his wife Celia Rocky Frizzell and his wife Joanna Jarrod Frizzell Dylan Brooks 2 Granddaughters- Jessica Brooks Shanna Baiz and her husband Fred 9 Great Grandchildren- Gabrielle, Brooklyn, Hiro, Lilly, Rylee, Vorian, Daisy, Vyolet and Baby Girl Baiz (due 4/14) Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday December 15 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs. John Ferree and Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sherrill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Olivet Methodist Church, 811 Olivet Church Rd, Whittier, NC 28789 or to Westcare Life Path, 68 Hospital Rd, Sylva, NC, 28779 . .
