Obituary of Thelma Nattie Johnson
Thelma Nattie Johnson, 90, of Sylva passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at her residence. Born January 21, 1923 in Jones County, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Parker McCraney. Her and her husband settled here in Sylva in 1989 where she enjoyed quilting and cross stitching. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sylva and volunteered at the hospital auxiliary for 12 years. She received her nursing degree from the American Red Cross. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Burnis E. Johnson, 3 brothers: Dauphus, Marvin and Elzie McCraney and 3 sisters: Gracie Regan, Lucille Watts and Hazel Ray as well as one granddaughter, Mandi Smith.
She is survived by her daughter- Dorothy Conner of Sylva
2 Sons- Ronald J. Johnson of Rancho Marieta, CA
Danny Johnson of Sylva
Sister- Myrtle Loftin of Centerville, MS
6 Grandchildren- Zack and Evan Johnson of Sacramento, CA, Micki Price of Sylva, Michelle (Randy) Mackey of Sylva, Cathy (Steve)Sutton of Sylva, Jimmy “Jimbo” (Tammy) Walker of Mobile, AL , Amy Beth (Chad) Purcell of Camp Lejeune, NC
10 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great Great Grandchildren also survive
A Memorial Service will be held at Bi-Centennial Park in Sylva on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 pm, with the Rev. Dan Styles officiating.
