Obituary of Iris Jenkins

Iris Sitton Jenkins, age 92, of Whittier died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Med West Harris in Sylva, NC.  Mrs. Jenkins was born July 24, 1921 in Jackson Co. NC. She is the daughter of the late James and the late Fannie (Thomas) Sitton.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Hugh Jenkins.  She was a member of the Shoal Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and homemaking. In her later years she worked at the Four Seasons Christmas Shop in Cherokee. Iris is survived by one son, James Jenkins of Pickens, SC; one daughter June Leonard of Cullowhee; four grandchildren Deborah Calhoun of Oak Ridge, NC, Jonathon Leonard of Cullowhee, David Leonard of Wilmington, NC and Brenner Jenkins of Clemson, SC; And three great grandchildren, Carmon Iris Calhoun, Miles Calhoun, and Isaac Calhoun A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on December 23, 2013 in the Shoal Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Jamison and Ray Kinsland. Burial will follow in Thomas Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. . .
