Obituary of Ethel Viola Smith

Ethel Viola Smith, age 81, of Cashiers died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Highland Cashiers Hospital. Ethel was born December 13, 1932 in Indianapolis, IN. She is the daughter of the late Fred L. and the late Cecil M. Richardson. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl S. Smith and two children, Michael A. and Robin Diane Smith. She is survived by children, Donna, Ron, Jim, Joe, Bill and David Smith' Gina Marhle, Heather Guest; Deborah Goldsmith; 26 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She loved working at the Treasure Chest Thrift Shop in Cashiers, and started the food pantry associated with that shop. She enjoyed catering for weddings, and travel. She was a member of the Cashiers United Methodist Church. A celebration of Ethel's life will be held at the Cashiers United Methodist at 11:00 on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva to help with final expenses. . .
