Obituary of James (Hoss) Austin Garfield Jenkins

James (Hoss) Austin Garfield Jenkins, 72, of Cashiers died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Highland Cashiers Hospital. James was born May 18, 1941 in Highlands, NC. . He is the son of the late Austin and the late Flora Mae Webb Jenkins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Dewey Jenkins. He was previously employed by CWS Systems in Sapphire, as a maintenance worker. He was the heavy equipment operator of the water and sewer plant at the Sapphire Resort. James was a member and the greeter at the Cashiers Church of God. He loved feeding and watching native birds. He enjoyed fixing things and loved fishing. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Chrissy Jenkins; three daughters, Christina Marie Jenkins, Victoria Elyse and husband Chris McCall, and Kathleen Teresa and husband Josh White, four grandchildren, a special daughter, Megan Jade Marie Jenkins, Robert Ashtin Zachary, Christopher Lathan Zachary, and Noah Alexandar White; two brothers, Earl and wife Sharon Jenkins and Larry Jenkins; three sisters, Linda Rice and husband Billy Ray, Kay Harper, and Phyllis McCall; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 14 at 2:00 pm at the Cashiers Church Of God with Revs. Joey Miller, Shane Silvers, and Johnny Norris officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday night from 6 until 8 pm. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery in Cashiers.
