Obituary of Dan Helms

Emmett Daniel Helms, 66, of Sylva passed away Wednesday evening January 15, 2014. A native of Union County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Bascom Emmett and Zink Jordan Helms. He was a member of the Army National Guard and had been a Licensed Optician in the Sylva area for the past 22 years. . He is survived by his wife of 26 years Anita Coggins Helms 1 Son- Benjamin Whitaker of Asheville Twin sister- Diane Vandevere of Charlotte Sister- Vye Mitchell of Moorehead City, NC Also many nieces and nephews also survive as well as his beloved dog Dutchie A Private Celebration of Dan's life will be held at a later date.
