Obituary of Pauline Allison

Pauline Allen Allison, age 87, of Sylva died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at home in Sylva. Pauline was born September 1, 1926 in Macon County, NC. She is the daughter of the late Scott and the late Eva (Buchanan) Allen and was preceded in death by her husband Mont Allison; a sister Barbara Green; and two brothers Jimmy and Edward Allen. Pauline loved gardening and cooking, especially making old fashion stack cakes. She loved growing her flowers and making quilts for her family. Pauline was a very strong and independent woman. She worked as a sewing operator with the Sylco Company. She was a devoted homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother, and a friend to all. She is survived by four sons, Gary and wife Patricia of Waynesville, Ralph and wife Belinda, Johnny and wife Debbie, and Keith and wife Suzanne, all of Sylva; seven grandchildren; Brent and wife Brandi, Wesley and wife Bridget, Amy and husband Jonathan, Derek, Nathan, Calvin, and Jeremy; three great grandchildren, Cody, Kaylee, and Grayson; and one brother, Lyndon Allen of Whittier, NC. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday February 19, 2014 in Greens Creek Baptist Church of which she was a member. The Rev. Tom Lavin and Rev. Eddie Stillwell will officiate. Burial will be in Greens Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Appalachian Funeral Services.
