Obituary of Frank E. Wheatley

Frank E. Wheatley, age 78, of Cullowhee died Sunday, August 21, 2011 at home in Cullowhee. Frank was born August 16, 1933 in Jackson County. He is the son of the late Harry and the late Ethel (Parker) Wheatley. He was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers. He served in the Army and retired from Western Carolina University as an electrician. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Meleda (Davis) Wheatley; one daughter: Gala Parris of Whittier; two sons: Tim Wheatley of Whittier, and Mark Wheatley of Cullowhee; four brothers: J.E. Wheatley and Doyle Wheatley, both of Sylva, Jim Wheatley of Coco Beach, Fla, and Bob Wheatley, of Cullowhee; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 23, at Appalachian Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 24 at Mount Zion Baptist Church of which he was a member with the Rev. Tommy Ashe officiating. Burial will be in Nations Creek Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by William E. Dillard American Legion Post 104.
