Obituary of Charlotte June Mullen
Charlotte June Sitzman Mullen grew up in FT. Collins, Co. leaving behind many family members in that area. She outlived her three brothers, Richard, William and Paul, whose families remember her well. She spent 20 years as an Army wife raising two children and traveling throughout the US and Europe before deciding on a life with her second husband, Cal W. Mullen. They lived in Maryland near one of Cal’s sons, Steven and his family, and often traveled to Oregon to visit her other stepson, David and his family. She occasionally visited her son, Robert Dale Robinson (deceased) who raised his three children in Cleburne, TX. In the early 90’s she and Cal moved to a horse farm in Ocala,FL to be near her daughters Family where they lived for the next twenty years. During that time she lost Cal and her Church family became her source of strength.
At the age of 79 she was diagnosed with Leukemia. With the help of her daughter and son-in-law, Lorna and Mack Powell, they spent the next three years attending to her health but she was eventually overtaken and died quietly at their home in Sylva, NC.
She is survived by: one daughter Lorna Noble Powell, two stepsons Stephen and David Mullen, nine grandchildren: Sabrina Noble, Daniel Robinson, Phillip Robinson, Leah Robinson, Steven, Robert Mullen, Aaron Mullen, Sara Carter, Jeffery Mullen, Eric Mullen and numerous great grandchildren.
In 1996 she buried her husband, Cal in Arlington National Cemetery and will be buried with him as is the custom of a military wife of her era. A Memorial Service will be planned at her church in Fairfield, FL.
