Obituary of Paul Alexander Carden

Rev.Paul Alexander Carden, Jr., 66 of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday August 7, 2014. Paul was a son, brother, Child of God, Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was born to Paul A.Carden and Mary Dillard Carden on August 9, 1947. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years Sharon Henry Carden, Daughters Paula C. Mills and friend David Craig of Waynesville and Kimberly C. Satterfield and husband James of St. Augustine, Florida. He has three grandchildren, Steffen Scarboro and Mary and Olivia Satterfield. Paul was ordained to preach the Gospel in 1974. He pastored Big Ridge Baptist Church in Glenville; Jarrett Memorial Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church in Sylva; Hyatts Chapel Baptist Church in Whittier and Pleasant Balsam Baptist Church in Waynesville. He served as Chaplain to the Haywood County Sheriff's office for thirteen years. He served two terms as President of the Haywood Christian Ministry. He was Chaplain to Haywood County Jail Officers at the time of his death. During Paul's life and ministry he always tried to preach the Word and live the Word with love and compassion that others would be lead to Christ. Pallbearers will be Ron Cook, Will Cook, Paul Stiles, Don Elliot, Ronnie Bryson, Freddie Clontz and Darryl Jamison. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present officers with the Haywood County Sheriff's Office. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday August 10 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs. Steve Jamison, Mike Moore and Charles Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Lovedale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3:00 PM prior to the Service at the Funeral Home.
