Obituary of Roy Jackson Tucker

Roy Jackson Tucker, age 72, of Sylva passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014. He was the son of the late Dayton Denton and Bertha Griffin Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and one daughter, Tammy Tucker Roy is survived by one daughter, Misty Moore (Eric) and three grandchildren; Tucker, Ty and Erica Moore, all of Sylva. Roy was known for his dedication to volunteering in his community. He was a member of the Sylva Rotary club and owned and operated Tucker & Associates, PA in Sylva since 1972. Roy was one of twenty students to graduate from Southwestern Community College's piolet surveying program. He enjoyed and excelled in football and basketball in high school where he and his team mates were the 1958 champions of the Smoky Mountain Conference in football. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. Family will receive friends Sunday evening, August 17, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
