Obituary of Leon Alexander Hendricks

Leon Alexander Hendricks, Sr., 66, of Whittier passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014. He was the son of the late Leon and Ellen Alexander Hendricks. He grew up in the Greenville and Mauldin areas in South Carolina and moved to Jackson County in 1994. He was a Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) and retired from the U.S. Navy, who he proudly served for from 1970 until 1990. He loved to golf and was a South Carolina Gamecock alumnus. At the time of his passing he was serving with the U.S.Postal Service for the last 15 years. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Susan Whitley Hendricks 3 Sons- Leon "Chip" Alexander Hendricks Jr. and his wife Julie of Waynesville James Thomas Hendricks and his wife Wendy of Davidson, NC Andrew Brittian Whitley Hendricks of Whittier 5 Grandchildren- Tanner, Emma, Ty, Hailey and Ryan A Military Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday October 18 at Pinelawn Memorial Memory Gardens in Clinton, SC. with the Dr. Robert Prince officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8:00 PM at Appalachian Funeral Services.
