Joe, we had not seen you in many years but you had always remained in our hearts as a dear and loving friend. You and your family meant so very much to us and we have lots of good memories of our times together.
We had many good times over the years. We loved living in our home and you were right down over the hill. It has taken me awhile to write this. No, I had not forgotten. Just not as tough as I used to be.
Our sincere condolences to all of the family. May Almighty God smile upon you and keep you in His Graces now and forever.

I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He probably wouldn't have remembered me, but I recall well the time he took Stan Sollenberger and myself buck hunting on Carr Hill between the Fairfield Road and Knoxlyn near Gettysburg. We didn't get any deer, but we had a barrel of fun telling stories. After the first day, Stan and I told Joe we would bring the sandwiches for the next day's lunch (we were skipping school for an extra day of hunting). In the process that night, we decided to put tear-jerking horseradish on Joe's sandwich and marked the wrapper accordingly with our "secret" black dot. When lunchtime rolled around the next day, he decided to skip the sandwich and thus didn't fall for the joke. To our chagrin, he never even said a word about it.
My condolences to Joe's family. He was a fine man and role model.

Dear Bushey Family,
I just read Joe's obituary in the G-burg time on line. I am sorry for your loss.
Joe was a great guy who I believe is distantly related. As a boy I hunted on his dad's farm with my granddad, Dutch Wilson and often saw his sisters.
As a young ranger at GNMP I worked with Joe occasionally on some LE cases and would see him around town and in church. We always had the best of times. I was aware he had moved to Wittier and had the best intention of visiting but never seemed to get over there. My wife Linda and I have been living in Weaverville, outside of Asheville for 14 years.
Joe and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I knew Joe almost throughout his law enforcement career and have listened to a few of his bad puns. He was a good friend and a fine man. I'm a little older than he and was shocked to learn of his passing. My condolences to his family.

Linda and Family
When I first became a police officer some thirty couple years ago. Joe a trooper at the local barracks, was always available to answer questions and to assist with problems. His advised was always valued and was taken with enthusiasm.
As my career went on through the years, Joe was retiring from the State Police. I asked him if he would consider coming to work with the Cumberland Township Police Department. I hoped he would bring his expertise and professionalism to our department. I was pleasantly surprise when he filled out an application.
I worked with Joe for the 9 years that he was a part of the department. I learned to know him. He was absolutely one of the best men that I knew in Law Enforcement. He was a credit to his occupation and also as a friend.
There are two times when the name Joe Bushey brought me sadness. When he left the department after 9 years and November 2, 2014. Farwell Joe I hope I am lucky enough to see you again.

Dear Linda and Family,
There are no words to describe how saddened I was when I received the e-mail about Joe's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Know that your family and friends and a God that loves you will give you the strength during this difficult time. I have such fond memories of my many visits to your home in Arendtsville. When we were frustrated, it was Joe who always had words of wisdom to help us. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by so many. I wish you were not so far away so I could give you a hug! But know I am there in thought.

Dear Linda and family. I wanted to send my thoughts and prayers for you guys. I was very saddened to hear of Joe's passing. He meant a lot to me and I always look forward to seeing him on his return visits to the area. He taught me a lot how to be a police officer and how to treat people while doing our job. I miss the many mornings that he relieved me and standing at the counter having long conversations about all of the many topics we had to consider. He will be truly missed by Cumberland Township and all the officers who came on under him. If there is anything that the department can do for you or the family please let us know. God got another great one yesterday.
