Obituary of Elbert Junior Carnes

Elbert Junior Carnes, 71, of Sylva, went home to be with his Lord, Christmas Day December 25, 2014. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Jesse Elbert and Edith Buchanan Carnes. He retired from Champion International and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed going to Cataloochee to watch the elk. One of his greatest joys was to go camping and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years Joyce Ann Green Carnes. He is survived by his daughter- Gina Bradley and her husband Larry of Mills River 2 Grandsons- Matthew Ryan and Harrison Luke 2 Brothers- Harold Jimmy and Cance Johnny Carnes both of Whittier 5 Sisters- Florence Ellen Aiken of Whittier Betty Jean Revis of Sylva Hazel Irene Sneed of Cherokee Jessie JoAnn Ridley of Franklin Mary Darcus Ginn of Whittier Numerous nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters in-law also survive A Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM Monday December 29 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Charles Dean officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 PM prior to the Service at the Funeral Home.
