I was a student of Paige Christiansen in several classes he taught in while I was at New Mexico Tech from 1970 to 1975. I loved his classes. He taught me to look at history as a living thing. The present was always part of its past. He was also great fun to be with. His humor was warm and his smile always brightened the world for students like me.

Scott, Brian and Becky,
So many memories come to mind when I think about your Dad and also your mother. They enriched my childhood. For some reason, adventures in the back of their camper come to mind right now. Good times. My condolences on your loss.

These trees symbolize Dad's love of the outdoors. As a family we were often out hiking, camping, fishing, rock hunting, gardening....and more. Dad also taught us that we are stewards of our natural resources and that we should always leave our camp area better than we found it. This lesson applies to many situations in life and I will remember it always.

Mom and Dad spent 64 wonderful years together and could almost always find a reason to smile. This is one of my favorite photos of them together. I feel lucky and blessed to have had them as my parents.

I choose a fly, from fishing. This was something that dad loved to do. The smallest stream was never a challenge to big for dad to catch something. He always knew what bait would work to catch the sly old fish. I was never a big fly fisherman, but his love inspired me to learn to tie fly's, he never had the chance to fish with one of my fly's but I had friends that did. My oldest brother Scott, loves fishing just like dad, Brian and I love the outdoor thanks to dad.

I choose to leave this picture because dad was very good at golf and it was something he was quite proud of. He played golf until he was in his mid 80's. It was an activity he enjoyed until his mid 80's. He also inspired my sister to take it up as a professional. I am not a golfer, but knew enough about it vicariously to discuss it with him often, and those enjoyable discussions about golf and other things are one of the things I will remember about him
