Obituary of Glenda Marie Brooks

Glenda Marie Brooks, age 51, of Sylva died Friday, May 29, 2015 at her home. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Glenda was born July 17, 1963. She is the daughter of the late Beauford Gibson and the late Eddie Marie (Bennett) Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Curtis Eugene Gibson, and Scotty Gibson; a brother-in-law, Randy Broom, and her grandmother, Stella Bennett. Glenda is survived by her husband of 25 years, John D. Brooks, Jr.; a sister, Gail Broom, a brother, Tracy Gibson, a niece, April Gibson, and three nephews, Jeremy Broom, Jayden and Travis Gibson. Glenda was a member of Locust Field Baptist Church, she loved jigsaw puzzles and gardening. She had worked for many years at the Cullowhee Valley School cafeteria and was very well known and loved. The funeral will be held 7:00 pm on Monday, June 1 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC with Revs. Eddie Stillwell and Rev. Charles Carnes officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 1 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm prior to the service. .
