I'm so sorry for your loss...my mother, Barbara Gowan, worked under him at NIEHS...she thought the world of him, and considered him one of, if not, the best boss she ever had. She told me a very funny story....he had an interview with a potential employee, and all through the interview he was wearing on his head, a headpiece with antennas sticking up, well, the lady said nothing, so, she didn't get the job!!! He told my Mom the lady didn't have a sense of humor...he had wanted her to laugh or say something about it!!! The world is a little darker without him in it....my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family...Jan Gowan

I remember with fondness how Jim and Joan entertained us in Switzerland the summer after Mary and I graduated from college. They were such wonderful hosts He loved those summers in Maine and Mary looked forward to spending time there as well. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Dea Ellen
