Obituary of Stella Dowis

Stella Revis Dowis, 80, of Concord, NC and formerly of Wilmington and Sylva, NC, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Jewel and Gertrude Revis of the Barkers Creek Community. She graduated from Sylva High School and Blanton Business College. She worked at Farmers Federation in Asheville, NC for many years and at Hamricks Clothing Store in Wilmington, NC. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Middleton. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert H. Dowis of Concord ; One daughter, Lisa Dowis Blackmore, her husband Tim, and granddaughter, Lisa Tess, of Swansea, Illinois ; One Son, Scott H. Dowis, of Concord, NC. She is also survived by four brothers, GW, James, Claude and Bobby Joe Revis, Five Sisters, Mary Branson of Asheville, Peggy Rigdon, Sara Parker, Cindy Rigdon and Nancy Sherill of Sylva, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Gail Dowis of Charlotte and many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs. Ronnie Branson and Mike Farmer officiating.
