There will be an informal memorial service honoring the life of my father, John Cox, on Saturday, July 11th, 4:00pm - 7:00pm, at the East LaPorte Park, covered picnic table.
Lasagna, pizza, and pecan pie will already be catered, so please do not feel pressured to bring food, but if you must, fruit or vegetables would be best. Please do bring your own beverage.
Stories and anecdotes about John are VERY welcome. We hope to remember him through the telling of stories, round robin style.

John was a truly fine man. Whenever we found ourselves lucky enough to be in his presence, he was always loving, insightful, supportive, and just plain fun to be around. He was a wonderful conversationalist and a positive model in every way. We liked him, and we respected him.
We share in your grief over his passing. His enduring legacy will be one that would have pleased him, and should make everyone in his family proud as well.
Sending love.
Jennifer and Lyndon

I am so shocked to hear of John's passing. I worked with him at Swain Middle School before I retired in 2005. He was on our eighth-grade team and had such a passion for the kids. They responded in kind and with great respect. My prayers for the family and many friends left behind. Many Swain County students and fellow teachers will carry his memory for all their years.
