Obituary of Rev. Ben Lee Cabe

Rev. Ben Lee Cabe, age 87, of Franklin died Friday, July 3, 2015 at Harris Regional Hospital. A life-long resident of Jackson County, Ben was born May 30, 1928. He is the son of the late Grover and the late Odessa (Deitz) Cabe. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Nina Painter Cabe; his granddaughter, Nina Marie Henson; a sister, Lou Shirley; brothers, Charlie, Jim and Eldon Cabe. He served in the Navy. Rev. Cabe pastored several churches in both Jackson and Macon County. He was the first Captain of the Jackson County Rescue Squad, and was Chief Deputy for Jackson County Sheriff's Department for eight years. He is survived by his wife: Carol (Newbern) Cabe; a daughter Wanda Cabe (Alvin) Henson; grandsons, Stacy (Cindy) and Heath (Regina) Henson; a great-granddaughter, Sidney Marie Henson; a brother, Andrew; sisters, Ruth, Mildred, Irene, and Christine; a step-son, Michael (Nesi) Fields; and several nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren. A funeral will be held in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva on Monday, July 6, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Wayne Price, Rev. Andy Cloer, and Rev. Morris Tippitt officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday at Appalachian from 5 until 8 pm. Burial will follow the funeral on Monday in Fairview Memorial Gardens. . .
