Dr Krizek was a mentor to me and I was fortunate to have spent a month under his guidance as a visiting medical student in plastic surgery during his time in Tampa Fl. He was the epitome of an academic surgeon and a legendary teacher. I remember him very fondly and during each and every burn case I encounter.

Tom was a true mentor to me and I think I was successful in my own career in Plastic Surgery in using a number of Krizekism in my own style of teaching. He is by far the most thoughtful colleague I have ever had in my own academic career. Long after he is remembered by name, like our genes, his thoughtfulness, his morality , his understanding of how to teach will be transmitted generation after generation in those involved in surgical education

Dr. Krizek was always one of my heroes, an iconoclast and visionary in every area he touched. I had the pleasure of sitting with him at the AAPS meeting in April, when, sick as he was, he came to honor Dr. Ariyan, and the delight of meeting Claudette. He knew what was important to plastic surgeons as physicians and as people. I will treasure his memory. Charlotte and I send our deepest condolences to Claudette and the family.
