Obituary of Jackie Whitaker

Jackie Wike Whitaker, 90, of the Charles's Creek section of Tuckasegee, died Friday, August 14, at home. Jackie was born in East La Porte. Her parents were Claude and Florence Wike. Jackie traveled the world with her late husband, Joseph Whitaker, who was in the US Air Force. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Whitaker of Fairfax, VA and Kenneth Whitaker of O'Fallon, IL; two daughters, Sharon Meadows of Atlanta, GA, and Claudia Snyder of Tuckasegee; one sister, Ina Lima of Knoxville, TN; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jackie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved gardening and her animals. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 am on Thursday, August 20, at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva. A graveside service will follow at Wike Cemetery.
