Obituary of Early Lloyd Buchanan

Early Lloyd Buchanan, age 75, of Sylva died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Skyland Care Center. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Early was born September 6, 1939. He is the son of the late Thad C and the late Letha L. (McMahan) Buchanan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Glenn Buchanan and a sister, Ila Buchanan. He was employed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a roadside landscaper. He was a member of Green's Creek Baptist Church. Early loved bear hunting, fishing, everything outdoors, and working in his yard and garden, especially riding his lawnmower. He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Darlous (Deitz) Buchanan; a daughter, Donna Earlene and Daren Carley of Brandon, MS; brothers, Roger A. and Lula Buchanan of Asheville, Dan Franklin and Mary S. Buchanan of Sylva, and Howard D. and Sue M. Buchanan of Jacksonville, AZ; sisters, Verna Bryson of Sylva and Betty Ruth and Ronald E. Warren of Sylva; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 18 at Appalachian Funeral Services, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC with Rev. Robert Blanton officiating. Burial will be in Old Savannah Cemetery, Sylva. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Old Savannah Cemetery Fund, Po Box 628, Dillsboro, NC 28725. .
