Obituary of Brenda Louise Buchanan

Brenda Louise Buchanan, age 71, of Sylva died Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Skyland Care Center. Brenda was born March 8, 1944 in Norfork, VA. She is the daughter of the late John Roy and the late Allie Mae (Watson) Haskett. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her step-father, Alvin Middleton, and a sister, Barbara Wood. She was employed by WCU as Office Manager of the Physical Plant. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to cook and made wonderful apple butter. She was a member of the Lovedale Baptist Church. And as friends say, she was always a Lady. . She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Arnold Buchanan; a daughter, Karla Rigdon Brestle, two step-sons, Brent and Kellen Buchanan, three step-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald and wife, Joan, Haskett of Mills River. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 23 at Appalachian Funeral Services, with Rev. Dennis Burrell and Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will be in MIddleton Cemetery, Tuckasegee on Wednesday, September 23 at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
