RIP, wish Steve and I knew her better. She made Manuel shine with her quiet demeanor when I was around them, yet she was the most present. Steve and Susan Dennison.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Alvia Lou was the first nurse I ever met. When I broke an arm during play time back at Scotts Creek Church. Later in life our paths would cross as children would play with their friends. Even later in years we would continue as our professional lives crossed what seemed like a daily basis. Alvia Lou always said hello and always asked how the family was. She was a wealth of knowledge and knew how an ER should run what what a patient needed, and sometimes handed down some "good tough love" when it was called for. Now it is time for Alvia Lou to rest. Her work and service to Jackson County is done. Alvia Lou, look over us and if there is a time we might need a reminder of that "good tough love" send us a bit.

your Mother and Grandmother was a very unique and wise individual. She was one of the best friends I ever had. I will miss her dearly. We talked a lot about you all. You were her pride and joy. She loved each of you with all of her heart. She told you a lot of things you should try to remember to guide you in your daily travels. She was very seldom if ever wrong. Even though she is not here in body she will remain forever embedded in our hearts. It was an honor to have known her and to have been able to call her,"Friend"

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. Alvia Lou was a wonderful person and had a love in her heart for everyone. She was a "Dr" in her career at the ER. She took care of many many people, including myself each time I was there. Knew exactly what I needed and didn't bother her one bit to stick a needle in my behind, matter of fact, she stated one time that she got great pleasure of doing it, cause it not only helped me, but also knew I hated it. lol. But because of her, my fear of needles went away. Steve and Doug, my heart hurts for your loss, she will be greatly missed. Her and Manual are together again and I can only imagine the tales that she's sharing. May she wrap her arms around each of you and comfort you during this time and the days to come. Love you all.

Dear Family of Alvia Lou,
You have our prayers and sympathy for the sad loss of your dear family member.
Alvia Lou was my classmate in Cullowhee Class of 1957 and always a good friend. We were blessed to have an opportunity to fellowship with her at our class reunion on August 22. We will miss her greatly.
Alvia Lou was a very sweet lady that I greatly admired, especially her positive attitude, determination and strength in her recovery from her stroke.
May God bless and comfort you and give you peace during this sad time.

What a wonderful nurse and a wonderful lady. She taught me more about nursing than four years of nursing school and more about life than I could ever tell you! May she rest in peace and my prayers for peace and understanding to all friends and family. I hate I will miss the services, I have prior commitments, but you all will be in my thoughts.

When I was 16 years old and started working at C.J. Harris, she took me under her wing. She taught me more than I can recount about nursing and also about life. She didn't always tell me what I wanted to hear, but she told me what I needed to hear. I smile thinking back on all the good times that we had. She was one of a kind, a great lady. I'm very blessed that she was part of my life. She worked hard and was just who she was, and she left a legacy. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this time.
