Obituary of Yvonne Saddler

Yvonne Saddler (Nielsen) of Houston, Texas passed away in Houston, Texas on October 10, 2015 at the age of 79. She was a former long-term resident of Cullowhee and former professor at WCU. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Daniel L. Saddler, and second husband Dr. Arnold Nielsen, who were also professors at WCU. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Carson Elizabeth Saddler. She is survived by her children, Toni E Saddler-French, of Kirkland Washington, Larry M Saddler, of Houston, TX, stepsons Rick and Ron Nielsen, and grandchildren Daniel French, Brennan Saddler, and Justin Saddler. She earned degrees from the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the University of Georgia. Yvonne had a distinguished 25-year career as a professor of Speech Pathology at Western Carolina University and earned Professor Emeritus status in 2001. During her tenure, she served as an academic and personal adviser, instructor, and clinical supervisor. She was adviser to WCU's chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association, coordinator for recruitment and clinical internships across North Carolina and other states, and a member of the N.C. Speech Hearing and Language Association. A celebration of Yvonne's life will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday, November 24th, 2015, at the Cullowhee United Methodist church.. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Yvonne Saddler Nielsen Scholarship fund at WCU at the address below.
