Obituary of Mary Amelia Higgins

Mary Amelia Anderson Higgins, 82, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Born in Anderson, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Fred Norris and Florence Edwards Anderson. She was a graduate of Girls High School in Anderson and Converse College with a B.A. Degree. She was a research assistant at Tulane University Medical School. Her passions were family, traveling, and playing bridge. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sylva. Survivors include her husband, William Reynolds Higgins of the home; a daughter, Mary Anne Higgins of Chattanooga, TN; two sons, William Anderson "Andy" Higgins and wife, Kim of Poulsbo, WA and Fred Norris Higgins and wife, Jennifer of Knoxville, TN; and three grandchildren, William Higgins, Walker Higgins and Farrar Higgins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22 at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. David J. Bailey. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Pastor Phillip Sealy officiating.
