Obituary of John Robert Brooks

John "Robert" Brooks, age 76, of Sylva passed Monday, December 7, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is the son of the late George Brooks and Lessie Cole Hayes. He was preceded in death by his second wife Bragaleen Brooks. He is survived by his wife Peggy Brooks. Robert was a trusted and well respected mechanic in Western Carolina. Along with being a master mechanic he also loved woodworking. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter Marcia and her husband Doug Bronk of Port St. Lucie, FL. A memorial service will be held Friday December 11, 2015 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Service with Rev. Earl Holden officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm one hour prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Thomas Cemetery c/o Bobbie Henderson 170 Boxwood Dr. Whittier, NC 28789 Appalachian Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
