Obituary of Joe Louis McDowell

Joe Louis McDowell, age 79, of Sylva passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015. Joe was born May 19, 1936 in Sylva. He is the son of the late Weldon and the late Genetrice (McDowell) Howell. Joe enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by one brother, Kermit McDowell; One son, Walter McDowell; One daughter, Vanessa McDowell, all of Sylva. 4 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rachel Wilson. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 31 at Appalachian Funeral Services, with the family receiving friends at 1pm.
