Obituary of Mary Gene Buchanan
Mary Gene Buchanan, age 69 of Sylva, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Blue Ridge on the Mountain of Sylva. Gene was born on January 24, 1946 to the late John R. and Mary Lee (Hooper) Watson in the Speedwell Community of Jackson County. In addition to her parents Mrs. Buchanan was predeceased by one son, Larry and one daughter Brenda Leann.
She loved to fish, raise rat terrier puppies, gardening and canning. Mrs. Buchanan was also the co-owner of Buchanan Mobile Home Service.
Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, RC. Also surviving are her son Mike and wife Amanda and three grandchildren, Corey, Cole, and Charley Kate. Three brothers and two sisters also survive. They are John Watson of Baltimore, MD, Robert Watson of Tennessee, Nicky Watson of Cullowhee, Dixie Lawson of Cullowhee, and Stella Watson of Cullowhee.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday January 30th at Old Savannah Baptist Church. .In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 7101 Creedmoor Rd. Suite 130, Raleigh, NC 27613.
