Obituary of Robert Lee Milkey
Robert Lee Milkey, 70, went home to be with The Lord December 3, 2011. Born March 3, 1941 in Milan, Michigan, he was the third child of Emil and Wanda ( Bame ) Milkey. The family then moved to Saline, Michigan where Bob attended Church and school. He graduated in 1959 from Saline High School. Bob was a U.S. Veteran having served his country in the Air Force as a supply parts expediter from 1962-1966. Bob retired from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry, where he was a maintenance supervisor to the mountains of Western Carolina.
He was an active member of New Savannah Baptist Church, where he served on several committees and was a trustee, Bob Loved his Church and his Church family.
Bob liked to sing in the choir at Church, camping, golfing, he was a member of the Jackson County Golf League, playing games and cards and spending time at family get togethers.
Bob is survived by his sons- Vince and Lloyd Milkey both of Sylva and a daughter Sherry Winkle of Michigan.
2 Grandchildren- Holly and Billy Winkle
Also surviving are Virginia Cress, her children David and Gina, Thomas and Jackie, Bill and Becky Cress, Karen and John Wells. Grandchildren- Jordan, Austin, Rachel, Spike, Jessica, Kyle and Sean Cress, Shelby and Randy Bunch-Wells.
8 Brothers- Emil and Judy, Leroy and Darlene, Roger, Steven and Lois, Thomas, Michael and Sharon, Karl and Caron and Fred Milkey.
3 Sisters- Irene Howe, Sally Dobson and Karen and Chuck McCalla.
Many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews also survive.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday December 10, 2011 at 11:00 am at New Savannah Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Knowles officiating.
