Kasey, Kim, and all the rest of the kids, grandkids and great grandbabies; we are
so sorry for your loss. Leo was a great man and he was very well thought of by our family. Mom loved Leo and working at Eastgate for many years. He was so good to her and all his employees. Dad loved talking to Leo about days long gone by and exchanging stories. He was so blessed with such a large and loving family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I know you all share many wonderful and sweet memories.

What an amazing man Leo was! We were young when we come to Sylva and Larry started work in x-ray. When we asked about a drug store we were told about Eastgate and we have spent the last 47 years as customers. When the girls and I would go to the "snack bar", he always asked what I was reading and would tell me about a new "good book". His book "It Was This Way" is a great treasure to me. Much love to Kim and Melissa, Cayce and the family. We love y'all and we will forever miss your Dad!

Great and funny guy. We went through WCTC together.
Remember hearing a customer at the drug store ask what did it mean on the Milk of Magnesia they had purchased that it was "Guaranteed." With no hesitation Leo replied "It is guaranteed to be Milk of Magnesia." John Gibson, Bristol, VA

We have such great memories of Leo from our childhoods growing up in Sylva. We always felt welcome in his home & especially as teenagers hanging out in the drugstore. Leo had such an easy nature & quick wit. He left us an example of living life to the fullest. May you feel God's presence & peace as you celebrate Leo's life.
Love, John David & Tina

My Condolences go out to the family. my father Forester Deitz loved to chat with this man at the pharmacy when i was a child growing up. i can remember standing there in the store for what seemed like hours listening to them tell yarns about the old times and most were about East Fork. I wish I had paid more attention. We were poor and when one of us mainly my sister and I would get sick Leo would let Dad put the bill on account. and then when i got married and had two little girls Kim (his son) did the same for me. you will not find better people than these folks are. I will see you on the other side Leo. God Bless you all.

Leo was always one of my favorite people. I posted something on facebook earlier this week about him when someone showed a photo of a VW "Bug" with flowers on it and asked if anyone would drive it. I posted that Leo Cowan had one in the 60's that he drove - A man before his time and beloved by everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with you. He will be missed by all who knew him.

So sorry to hear about Leo passing. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. We've heard many "Leo" stories from Jim's dad Joe, and he thought the world of him, as did Amanda.
