Obituary of Mae Louise Allen

Mae Louise Allen, age 93, of Cullowhee died Friday, April 15, 2016 at Harris Regional Hospital of Sylva , 28779. Mae was born June 9, 1922 in Cullowhee. She is the daughter of the late William Henry and the late Estella (Love) Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Henry Allen; brothers, Harold, Bill and Howard Rogers; and sisters, Evelyn Wells, Ernestine Worth and Helen Scott. Mae retired from the housekeeping department at Western Carolina University. She was a member of the AME Zion Methodist Church in Cullowhee, she loved being with her family, cooking Sunday dinner, her soap operas, watching gospel music and services, and her church. She is survived by her children, Don Allen and Freda Siler; three grandchildren, Will, Cory and Ikeda; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Whiteside, Ann Rogers, and Ida Bryson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April, 21 at the AME Zion Methodist Church in Cullowhee, with Rev. Eddie Stillwell, Elder Herbert Grant, and Bishop Adam West officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Sylva. The family will receive friends Wednesday April 20 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva. . .
