Obituary of Luther Lesley Coggins

Luther L. Coggins, age 94, of Cullowhee passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at his residence. He is the son of the late Ransom and Violet Coggins. He is survived by his wife of 75 years Britta Lee Coggins. Luther retired from Western Carolina University where he worked for 20 year. He loved working in the garden and doing work with his tractor. He was a member and the oldest deacon of Fall Cliff Baptist Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter Mildred Whetstine and husband Frank; two sons Verlon Coggins and Clifford Coggins and wife Gay; Nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one sister Pauline Stewart and one sister in law Ollie Coggins. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Friday May 6, 2016 at 2:00pm at Fall Cliff Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Holden and Rev. Jim Ed Powell. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Fall Cliff Cemetery. The family would like to say special thanks to Westcare Home Health and Harris Lifepath Hospice and Palliative Care for the care given to Luther.
