Obituary of Wilburn Cornelious Buchanan

Wilburn C. Buchanan Sr. age 85 of Candler, NC passed away Monday June 6, 2016 at his residence. He is the son of the late Roy G. and Vanarrah Tatham Buchanan. He was married for 60 years to Jo Lena Connor Buchanan. Wilburn served in the United States Navy in the Korean War in the Beach Masters Unit from 1950-1954. He retired from Champion International in 1995. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Neil Buchanan (Paulette) of Leciester, NC; one granddaughter Milena Buchanan; one brother, Glen Buchanan and one sister, Louise Stephens; several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Hubert; Jack; and Julian Buchanan. A funeral service will be held Thursday June 9, 2016 at 2pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Service with Rev. Donnie Buchanan officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 2:00pm, two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Old Webster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Webster Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 115 Webster, NC 28788.Please write in memory of Wilburn C. Buchanan, Sr. on the checks.
