Clyde was a goodun!
He always spoke highly of my cousin Bill whom he coached. I always enjoyed the times we got paired up in the golf matches. A very gracious person to someone as rambunctious as I. Probably cost him a few strokes over the years. Didn't know till the funeral his connection to Charles Hager. Charles and I has many interesting discussions at church and our homes. Was proud to have him in my wedding. Always a treat to see yall out and about around town. Good luck with moving on. Holler ifn we can be of help. Cheryl and Steve Beck

To the family of Clyde Bumgarner,
I was once one of Mr. Bumgarner's students at Cherokee High School. My story may be a common one. Yet, I feel compelled to share it with you.
When I first moved to Cherokee from Los Angeles, California, I didn't have many friends. Although I had been at best a C student in California, Mr. Bumgarner told me that I was really smart. He drilled it in to me day in and day out. By the time I finished 7th grade, I had a B average. By the time I graduated from CHS in 1975, my grade average was the fifth highest in my class. I went on to college and became a teacher like Mr. Bumgarner. Seventeen years ago I earned an M. Div. and today I am a pastor.
I firmly believe that were it not for Mr. Bumgarner's encouragement, I would not have attained these achievements. Thank you Mr. Bumgarner. I will never forget what you did for me.
Sincerely,
Thomas Hanks

I also was honored to have Mr. Bumgarner as my teacher. My condolences to the family because it is so hard to lose someone especially a parent or spouse. I still remember his talks that he gave us during class. Thank you for allowing us time with him as a teacher, he left many of us with a lot of memories.

This world lost a wonderful man and patriot. The last time I saw Clyde, was when he and Ernest came by the hospital to see Lymon Parker. Because we all knew Pappa was was leaving this world, Clyde and Ernest rendered a salute in respect and honor. I have never forgotten that.
I salute you Clyde! Til we meet again on the other side.
