Obituary of Macquelyn Ann Queen

Macquelyn Ann Queen, 77, of Cullowhee, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday June 21st, 2016. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Camilla (Hall) Steele. She enjoyed quilting, crafting and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of Johns Creek Baptist Church and she loved to read her Bible. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by 4 sisters, Mary Fox, Opal Lusk, Miona Hooper, Harriet Conner, and one brother, James Tucker. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James “Mack” Queen; Five sons, Michael (Joy) Queen, Terry (Linda) Queen, Kenny (Pat) Queen, Ronnie Queen, Roger (Kathy) Queen, all of Cullowhee, and one daughter Barbara (Eddie) McCoy of Sylva. She is also survived by brothers Joe Tucker and Clyde Steele; Sisters, Naomi Reese, Iona Meadows, Twin sister Jackie Coward, Gladys Ray and Cleo Rogers. 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren also survive. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 23rd from 6pm-8pm at Appalachian Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday June 24th 2016 at Johns Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Dennis Burrell, Matt Shuler, and Michael Queen officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
