Obituary of Doris Jane Pannell

Doris Jenkins Pannell, 72, of the Addie Community It is with profound and heartfelt sadness that the family of Doris J. Pannell announces that she has gone on to be with her Lord on June 25, 2016. She died at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. A loving mother and grandmother and a devoted wife, she took comfort in the fact that all of her children and grandchildren had accepted Jesus into their hearts. Her family takes comfort in their belief that they will see her again in heaven and that, being absent from this body she is present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-8). Her most frequent and heartfelt prayer was that all her friends and loved ones would come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior so that they too can take comfort in the blessed hope of our Savior's love. Mrs. Pannell was the daughter of the late Troy and Roselle Anderson Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Pearson Pannell, two sisters: Erma Tipton and Grace Hyde, three brothers: Troy Jenkins, Jr., Gudger Jenkins and Ted Jenkins. She is survived by one daughter Annette Sutton and husband Jack, sons Tim Pannell and wife Carolyn and Keith Pannell and wife Christy all of Sylva and by 4 grandchildren, Andy, Justin, Shandell and Cody. She is also survived by 6 brothers: Douglas Jenkins of Bryson City, Dennis Jenkins of Sparta, TN, Gale Jenkins of Marble, John and Donnie Jenkins of Robbinsville and Terry Jenkins of Gastonia and 3 sisters: Susan Lingerfelt of Gastonia, Nellie Davis and Carol Anderson of Robbinsville. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Home on Tuesday June 28 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM with the funeral to follow at 5:00 PM in the Chapel. The Reverends Tommy Ashe, David Burch and Mike Fox will officiate, following the funeral, there will be a private graveside service at Buff Creek Cemetery. .
