Obituary of Sandra Sue Jones

Sandra Sue Jones, age 76, of Sylva died Monday, June 27, 2016 at Harris Regional Hospital. Mrs. Jones was born September 10, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. She is the daughter of the late Earl Theodore and the late Gladys Martha (Willis) Murphy. Sandra was a children's author, who enjoyed travel, board games, puzzles, card games, and Scottish Terriers. She was a charter member and served as the first chaplain of the Women of the Moose. She was formerly employed as an administrative assistant by Eastern Michigan University. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, David Bruce Jones; two daughters, Nancy Lee Asher of Ypsilanti, MI and Jeri Lynne Anderson of Sylva; one son, Robert Bruce Jones of Sylva; four grandchildren; Brienna Megan Asher; David Clellan Anderson; Katilyn Ann Asher, Andrew Douglas Anderson; six great grandchildren; Leia McDougle, Jayden McDougle, Andrew Jackson Anderson, Kyler Clellan Anderson, Asia Lynette Anderson; Kahlan Rose Anderson. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her sister, Margorie Anne Inman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Love's Chapel United Methodist Church, Sylva with the Rev. Dan Stiles officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva. Burial will be in the Henry Cogdill Cemetery. . .
