Obituary of William Wright Newman

William Wright Newman, 73, of Glenville, entered into Eternal Rest, Saturday evening July 2, 2016. A native of Augusta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Merritt Roland II and Margarete (Hall) Newman. A U.S. Navy Veteran, he loved building guitars and boats and could fix just about anything. A pipefitter by trade he was a member of Local Union 150 in Augusta, Georgia. He was also a Shriner and a Free Mason. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by an infant brother Alfred Newman. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Connie Sue Barnett Newman. 1 Son- James "Jimmy" Argus Newman 2 Daughters- Shannon Renee Williams of Cashiers and Alicha Marie Weeks of Augusta, Georgia 4 Grandsons- Adam Tarver, Zachary Schlegel, David Williams Jr. and Dakota Jace Williams 2 Sisters- Linda Mullins of Lincolnton, Georgia and Betty Blackwell of Augusta, Georgia Brother- Merritt Rowland Newman III of Cashiers Several nieces and nephews also survive Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday July 8, 2016 at Cashiers Baptist Church with the Rev. Scotty Patrick officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the Church. Burial will be in Glenville Wesleyan Church Cemetery. .
