Obituary of Alva Deanna Dills

Alva Deanna Dills "Dee", 75, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord, on Monday July 18, 2016. She was born in Ellenboro, North Carolina to the late James Vernon, Sr. and Ruby (Harrill) Allen. She was a member of Jarrett Memorial Baptist Church in Dillsboro and a retired teacher with Haywood County School System. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sydney Allen. Alva is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Charles (Charlie) E. Dills; three daughters; Cindy (the late Stan) Robertson of Sylva, Jan (Delmer) Atkinson of Wake Forest, and Leanne (Travis) Fisher of Charlotte; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters; Nancy (the late HL) Frady of Hickory, Judy Allen of Ellenboro, Brenda (Jeff) McEntire of Rutherfordton, Sara (Wayne) Sheppard of Bostic, Hannah (Randy) Jolley of Bostic, and Kathy (Phillip) Houser of Cliffside. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 20th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Alvin Allen and the Rev. Clemmy Queen presiding. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Parris Cemetery.
